With 2 toddlers and older child who constantly stims verbally and high pitched and a noisy neighbourhood, I have found these great to take off the stressful edge and make me feel calmer when I am overwhelmed by all the household noises or feeling stressed such as when I am starting on making tea and the littles decide that my beginning on making tea is the sign that they should be clamouring for food NOW! I pilfered these as I think that I bought the wrong size for him, but I had actually bought these for my husband, who doesn't believe in autism, but is the most noise sensitive person I have ever met & when he visited my friend who has a son on the spectrum, she just assumed he was and that he knew! My daughter has acutely good hearing and I was originally just putting them in as an attempt to encourage her to stick with trying the children's ones for longer than 2 minutes, and I realised that they will be too small for my husband who's a foot taller than me. However, for my daughter whose hearing ability is intense, she only wore hers a couple of minutes before absolutely rejecting them and she said that it makes all of the sounds that she already heard painfully loud, painfully louder. I don't know how to get her to give them a good try. Win for me, not for her and dad's in the cold with none, I have to get him bigger ones. Brilliant product! I now have 5 pairs of these! I have small ears so the soft mini is a perfect fit. I'm so glad I got told about these. I always wondered what was wrong with me when high pitched sounds would irritate me. I now feel less stressed and a lot more calmer. Best buy ever!

I've been using these for the past 3 months and I love them! They've made a world of difference for me with my sound sensitivity thanks to fibromyalgia - I can actually go outside and hold conversations without being too distracted or overwhelmed.
They are so small and discreet, no one has even noticed them in my ears. They are also super comfy to wear all day long, you can sleep with them in without noticing, I've even forgotten and worn them in the shower! - love these so much I'm buying back ups in case.

These cut down the hissing ee and loud jarring noises. Im writing this in a noisy burger joint, because I was just thinking, man these rock. They also dont hurt my tiny ears. Yay. I am autistic, so this may skew my perception towards hypersensitivity. But they do the job. (Much to my surprise).

I find these devices effective in noisy situations (such as taking grandchildren to the museum, or in cafes). The devices soften the ambient noise to a point where it becomes tolerable and I don't get irritable. As a bonus I am able to follow the conversation of the people across the table.
In quiet situations the devices are not so good, making voices lose their sibilance more than normal for an older person so some words become indistinct, leading to misunderstandings.
Luckily they're easy to insert and remove, and the handy little pouch makes it easy to stow them for later.
In summary: effective in noisy situations, but detrimental in quiet surroundings.
